How to start your Indigenous job search (and what to expect)

Starting an Indigenous job search can feel overwhelming, especially if you have been out of work for a while or do not know where to look. The good news is you do not have to work it out on your own.

This is a simple guide to getting started, and how APIP can take a lot of the hard part off your plate.

Start with what you want, not just what you have

You do not need the perfect resume to begin. Think about what kind of work interests you and what you are good at. Outdoors or indoors? Hands-on or people-focused? A trade or an office? Even a rough idea gives us something to work with.

You do not have to search alone

Most job searching is done alone, firing off applications and hoping for a reply. An Indigenous recruitment company changes that. APIP is Indigenous-owned and works with employers across North Queensland. We match you to roles that fit, and we put your name forward for them.

Getting job-ready is part of the deal

If you are missing a ticket, a licence or a bit of experience, that is not a dead end. We help you get there:

What happens after you get the job

Getting hired is only the start. APIP stays with you through the tricky early days with holistic mentoring: someone on site in your corner, transport help if you need it, pastoral care, and practical support so a small setback never costs you the role.
